Hello guys,

I’m now back with new exciting concept for my blog. As I have mentioned, my 2013 goal is to blog frequently. Hence, a good concept is necessary.
So the following is my upcoming concept!

1) SHANNENPRIJATNA is now focusing on the niche market of the beauty & makeup! I will post one about beauty/makeup consecutively. Meaning, if this week I post about beauty, the next will be about makeup.
2) My so-called ‘blabber’ posts will not be considered as my ‘one post per week’. Since I am totally taking a serious move on my beauty/makeup market
3) Every end of month, I would have one inspirational post of what I have learnt, realised, or oversee from that specific month
4) I will have contest/give away once in every 6 months! My first one would start in few months, so hang in there and wait for my post about it. My first one will start once I feel that I have enough readers! So give me a shout by commenting, tweet, facebook or anything about it. This way, I could keep track of all my awesome and beautiful readers! Don’t forget to keep sharing my blog to your friends too 🙂

p.s: my contest would be open for world wide!

I’m excited for all this, wait for the next few posts. Yeay!

With Love,

Shannen ♥

Merry (belated) Christmas and Happy (early) New Year!

Dear Readers,

MERRY (belated) CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY (early) NEW YEAR!

I hope you all had a blessed and merry Christmas. Well, the festive season isn’t over yet. So brace yourself, more (fatty) food is coming your way! Hopefully, you will enjoy your New Years Eve celebration just as much as you did on Christmas!

I myself had a very joyous Christmas. I celebrated it back in Indonesia with many of my cousins and big family. It was lively…. until my jet lag kicks in and I fell asleep at 5 pm (my usual time of sleeping everyday) and left the party first. Boo, party poooopeer lol. Oh well.

However, I also had the privilege of experiencing my first German Christmas Market over in Edinburgh. It was very very exciting, I tell you. I’m very impressed, I never feel so Christmas-y before. It was nice. The ice skating ring and the millions of other game booths make it soo lively. I love it. It’s so beautiful. How I wish I would have my boyfriend there *coughcoughcough*. Well, oh well, the food was AHMAZING too. Though, I honestly, expect more variety. I mean, I saw one or two similar booths. I wish there would be less duplicate and more variety! But no doubt, the taste were heaven like!

This is how the Christmas market look like in Edinburgh from far:

I tried the: pork burger, waffles, I drank the hot rum drink, the sausage, and also fried cheese!

The sausage was AHMAZING. It is a must try. The pork burger was really gooood too but I think bad luck, when we went there some of the pork was a bit burnt so it was quite bitter. But otherwise, it was great. The waffles was great. I got the vanilla cranberry one, it was great but it is not the best. I mean, waffles is something so common, I have tried many great ones in other places.

The rum though, was not my favourite. I mean, rum itself is something that I don’t really enjoy drinking it. Hot rum was another level. But it was very warming. I do recommend you to try it. If you don’t really like it then you can share it with few friends. But you MUST try it once at least 🙂

My favourite was the fried cheese. I mean come on, how often do you see those? Maybe it is quite common, but not for me! Well, the cheese was awesome. I was afraid that the fried cheese will taste too cheesey and I would feel sick. But little did I know, the cheese has pepper or chili in it. It adds flavour to it and yuuum. It is certainly one of my favourite dish there. It was new, unique, and incredibly tasty.

Well overall, I think that the German Christmas Market was a really good experience. I had a lot of fun. The food was great, although frankly speaking many of them are somewhat overpriced. Especially the things sold there. There were many cute hats and decorations. But they were ridiculously overpriced (for students, at least). So that was the downside. Well, I guess once in a while it’s okay.

I didn’t actually get anything there. I just took photos and tried out the food. Below is slideshow of things that I found there. Some nice photos of the activities/booths there, like ice skating and others. Also, there were many adorable dolls too! The slideshow below has few photos of my friends and I going crazy on trying on different kinds of many rad hats!

I had lots of fun. I wish to try different German Christmas Market in different cities next year! Wohoo, I’m excited.
Let me know about YOUR German Christmas Market Experience.

With Love,

Shannen ♥

120 colors palette, 1st edition, 60 colors palette, america, australia, beauty, bh cosmetics, colors, edinburgh, excited, eyeshadows, lip gloss, long waited, make up, makeup, online, online shopping, package, parcel, shopping, united kingdom, united states

Guess what came in the mail today? GUESS GUESS!
It’s my BH Cosmetics Parcel! WOHOOO. I’m soo excited!

I got mine right on the 10th day of my order – I paid for the cheapest International shipping which would take 10-20 days. But mine came in the 10th day, maybe because I’m only in the UK so it doesn’t take as long as it would if I were to live in… Australia, perhaps?

Bh Cosmetics

I was so happy when my flatmate told me my BH Cosmetics parcel is here. Then I began to open it and saw this cute wrap. Okay, this might be an exaggeration because of my over-excitement. But I mean it! Isn’t it cute and creative. TEHEHEHE

IMG_0498

Well, anyways, on to the fun part! I ordered the 120 color palette 1st edition and the 66 lop gloss color palette:

IMG_0503IMG_0501

And… when I opened it I was like WOW. Here are some snapshots!

This is the 66 lip gloss palette:

IMG_0502

I haven’t got to try the gloss yet but I would make a special review! So WAIT UP!

Why I got this: because I’ve been in love with experimenting different colors and lipsticks and lip glosses cost a fortune! As a college student, of course, the one that would save me money is definitely the best option I have! So I don’t know if they are well pigmented or not but I guess it’s something that you could build up. I wish I would play with it when I got it today but it’s almost exams so my time is quite restricted. But hang in there, I promise you, I would do it soon!

Now this is what everyone has been talking about, the 120 color palette:

I have been wanting to get this for AGES! I have one before which is not from BH Cosmetics. It’s just a random one I got online but I’ve read many reviews carefully and BH cosmetics seems to have a slightly more pigmented eyeshadows which is perfect! Because the ones I have are not too pigmented so it’s so hard to build up all the colors.

I’ve tried it a little on my finger and YES it was pigmented but same goes, I’ll give reviews and tutorials soon! Hang in there.

Now now, if you don’t know BH Cosmetics has 5 editions of the 120 palette, mine is the first one. Here is a sneak peek of the 5 palettes:

IMG_0505

I guess the first one has more variety of colors while the others are more concentrated to a certain hue. For example 5th is more towards pink and purple.

I chose the first one because I have always run to either: neutral, pink, or purple colors! E.g the palette I was talking about earlier is the neutral color ones, so no don’t worry, I’m not wasting my money on buying doubles!

Well, recently I have been in love with silvers, blue, and turquoise colors. I’ve been wanting to play around with them too! But I don’t have any and getting individual ones or small palette from other brands are definitely good but again, it’s pricey. So might as well get this where I can have all of the colors and also if you think the colors are not too pigmented. Invest in some color primers e.g; paint pots or eye pencils or cream shadows for the base. This way, it would pop the color even more. It is a good investment because even when I’m using my MAC, Make up Forever, or Urban Decay ones I would still use those bases too! So it’s versatile.

Anyways, for more information go to http://www.bhcosmetics.com

No, I am not sponsored by BH (I wish lol!) but I would give my honest opinions on the review and play around to give you all a tutorial! Just give me time. I have exams soon but will be done in 2 weeks so HANG IN THERE GUYS!

With Love,

Shannen

What they never tell you about first year of University

college, easy, edinburgh, enjoy, hard, high school, life, reading, summer school, univeristy, work

Coming to my first year to university. I can vividly remember people telling me how fun it will be, how many parties there will be, and that it is just the best time of your life.

Yes maybe it’s too early for me to judge, really. But honestly this is a more realistic point of view of going to being in a university. Perhaps, it may vary according to the university that you go to. But at least in my university and I believe few others too, the competition is quite high, and as a result this is how university is:

1) You will have hundreds of pages of reading: they always tell me that IB will be more relaxing than university. HA BIG JOKE. My business studies book that we use for one semester this year is as thick as my business studies HL book for two years. Isn’t that amazing? So get used to this. Reading and making your own notes! Because nobody will check your notes and nobody will check if you are listening or not. I find this really difficult to actually listen in lectures. haahha. But listening in lectures help to make your reading tasks less heavy! P.s: the material for my first semester exam is a textbook that is more or less similar to my material for exam in High School for 1-2 years.

2) There are more work than you think: Yes you don’t have those daily or weekly stupid homework. But you have essays and posters and other projects to write. Yes in IB you do write LOADS of essays. But honestly, it’s different. Your lecturer will not bother if you fully understand the topic or if they fully cover the topic. So imagine just about the amount of additional readings you will get?

3) Finding friends in university isn’t as easy as finding friends in school/summer school. I remember going into summer school last year, without knowing anyone. Fortunately, within a day, I was able to find many great friends. So, as I was heading to university, I thought to myself “don’t worry, it will just be like the summer school..” NO. That’s wrong. In lectures, nobody cares who the fuck sits besides you. Maybe in tutorials they do, but everyone is so focused and may already have their friends. So it is not that easy after all, huh?

I honestly could go on and on about this topic but I don’t want to scare you or anything.

Because despite all this negativity, I must be honest, I love how I am out of that high school bubble.

I have not met as many great people as I intend to but the ones I have met are ridiculously great. I find it amazing that we do not need to stay in our little “clique” or “bubble”. So we get to find many friends and nothing restricts us. No gossip, no rumors. Nobody cares about what others do, unless that is your significant others.

University has been challenging but is worth the effort, so really. Don’t worry about it 🙂
Enjoy your time before going to university though, but of course, maximise it once you are here!

Much love,

Shannen ♥

2012, 2013, christmas, cold december, december, january, new years, new years resolution, resolution

It’s finally December, what a special December, it’s my first cold December!

Well, this means exams are approaching for me (boo) but it’s closer to Christmas and New Year! HOORAY HOORAY! *here comes the part where people say: I will laugh at the movie 2012 on New Years Day*.

Anyways, as New Years is approaching. I think it will be a great time to finally think about my New Years Resolution. So here is the following for me:

1. Be more patience and less emotional

2. Take every single opportunities possible and give it my best

3. Work harder! Go to ALL of my lectures and tutorials – ‘having a boring lecturer’ is not an excuse, unless important and urgent (e.g: really sick) is okay but cannot skip tutorials! Start my notes every time after lecture, so when exams are approaching I don’t need to waste time writing them. But, I do understand that often I may slack. So 1 – 2 lectures behind is okay – no more than 2 lectures!

4. Less shopping and more savings! – Get a part time job, preferably in the Makeup Industry.

5. Lead a group of people – I have many ideas in my head, I need to express this, I need to take the lead!

6. Prove others that age discrimination should not exist – I have done so in 2012 but whenever I feel discriminated I do not do much about it. In 2013, it will not happen anymore! I will stand for what I believe in.

7. Blog once every week! – Set a day that I am more free and post one every week no matter what.

8. More active physically – active in the gym again!

9. Make an impact/give back to this society – I used to be so involved with the society back in Singapore. I need to start doing that now that I am in Edinburgh and I have somewhat settled down.

10. Continue learning Mandarin. I used to learn it in the IB but now I have lost it. So I need to encourage myself to continue because knowing a foreign language is very important.

So these are my new years resolutions. I know I have done many in the past years but never end up doing them. So I promise that on June 2013, I will do a progress post where I state where I am with my resolution. Whether I have achieve it or will achieve it.

I encourage you all to do the same! We could do it together and do a progress check together. This would be fun, feel free to tag me in your posts. I love reading new years resolution!

Here is a tip for you when making resolution: be realistic, if you think you may not achieve it this year then create a resolution that is like a stepping stone to your big one for the next year. E.g: my ultimate resolution is to graduate a 1:1 but if that is my goal for 2013, I may achieve it for that specific year only. So by saying I will revise early, go to lectures, and not miss tutorials are stepping stones to me graduating with a 1:1

I’m sure you can all do it! Best of luck for you all. I look forward to reading your resolutions!

Much love,

Shannen ♥
